MEDIA EVOLUTION
"Big Media... treated the news as a lecture," writes Dan Gillmore in his new book, We, the Media. "Tomorrow's news reporting and production will be more of a conversation, or a seminar." Gillmore's first chapter appears as an excerpt on Ohmynews International. Founded by Oh Yeon Ho as a way to democratize South Korean news media, Ohmynews is based on the premise that, as Oh puts it, "Every citizen is a reporter." Journalists might quibble with that assertion. Part of the reason Gillmore's excerpt is so intriguing is that he spent 25 years as a professional journalist before discovering a new way to communicate, as a blogger.
